In 2019, population of Latvia dropped by 3.4 thousand people
28.05.2020Latest data compiled by the Central Statistical Bureau of Latvia (CSB) show that at the beginning of 2020 population of Latvia accounted for 1 million 908 thousand people, which is 12.3 thousand people fewer than a year ago. In 2019, as a result of international long-term migration population of the country dropped by 3.4 thousand people, which is the lowest indicator recorded since 1989, whereas the negative natural increase resulted in reduction of 8.9 thousand people.

In April, retail trade turnover in Latvia fell by 9% y-o-y
Calendar adjusted data (at constant prices) compiled by the Central Statistical Bureau (CSB) show that, compared to April 2019, in April 2020 total retail trade turnover reduced by 9.0%. Turnover of retail trade in food products declined by 3.5%. Retail trade in non-food products (except for retail sale of automotive fuel) decreased by 14.9%, but turnover of retail sale of automotive fuel – by 5.3%.
Burger King restaurant in Riga to be opened at Akropole shopping center
The Estonian ferry operator Tallink Grupp announced on Thursday that the first Burger King restaurants in Latvia and Lithuania will be opened in the Akropole shopping center in Riga and the Akropolis mall in Vilnius in the second half of this year, the company informed LETA.
