In the 1st quarter of 2020, 64.7% of the population of Latvia were employed
22.05.2020Results of the Labour Force Survey conducted by the Central Statistical Bureau (CSB) show that 902.1 thousand people or 64.7 % of the population of Latvia aged 15–74 were employed in the 1st quarter of 2020. During a year employment rate grew by 0.3 percentage points, however, emergency situation that was declared in the country on March 13 due to spread of Covid-19 has negatively affected labour market. The number of employed has reduced by 1.5 thousand during a year.

In Q1, Latvian unemployment rate constituted 7.4%
Results of the Labour Force Survey conducted by the Central Statistical Bureau (CSB) show that in the 1st quarter of 2020 Latvian unemployment rate comprised 7.4%. Compared to the previous quarter, rate of unemployment has risen by 1.4 percentage points, but during a year – by 0.5 percentage points.
