LTV7 will no longer broadcast minority content from 2021
29.05.2020From January 1, 2021, Latvian Television Channel 7 (LTV7) will no longer broadcast minority content, the chairman of the National Electronic Mass Media Council (NEPLP) Ivars Abolins said on May 29th, cites LETA.

Turnover of Latvian Railways drops by 33.5% in Q1
29.05.2020Latvijas Dzelzcels (Latvian Railways, LDz) national rail company turned over EUR 34.142 million in the first quarter of 2020, which is a reduction of 33.5% from the respective period a year ago, while the company's profit tripled to EUR 9.429 million, writes LETA, according to information released by LDz.
Covid-19 contact tracing app emerges as most popular app in Latvia
29.05.2020The Apturi Covid (Stop Covid) mobile app created in Latvia to trace contacts of people with Covid-19 emerged as the most popular app in Latvia on App Store and Google Play on the first day after its launch, informed Elina Lidere, a spokeswoman for Latvijas Mobilais Telefons (LMT) mobile operator which participated in the development of the app, informs LETA/BNS.
Latvian GDP contracts 1.5% in Q1
29.05.2020Data compiled by the Central Statistical Bureau (CSB) show that in the 1st quarter of 2020, compared to the 1st quarter of 2019, gross domestic product (GDP) decreased by 1.5% (according to seasonally and calendar non-adjusted data). In the 1st quarter GDP at constant prices was EUR 6.8 bn.
In Q1, GDP in Estonia fell by 0.7%
29.05.2020According to Statistics Estonia, in the 1st quarter of 2020, the gross domestic product (GDP) fell by 0.7% compared to the 1st quarter of 2019. The GDP at current prices was 6.5 billion euros.
