Member of the Lithuanian Seimas Gintaras Songaila said the public hearing on the Belarusian nuclear plant, held in Vilnius University on March 2, was a promoting event, LETA/Charter97 reports.

Viktor Shevaldin, who has been the Head of the Ignalina nuclear power plant (IAE) for already 17 years, says that he is slightly disappointed that Lithuania still intends to build a new nuclear power plant with another three countries. "It would probably more useful if Lithuania had a reliable partner, a major financial company, own a 51% holding of the plant and the company would have the remaining 49% of shares.
