On 23 September Ignitis Grupė signed the contract with the European Investment Bank (EIB) for the loan of EUR 110 mln which will be used by Energijos skirstymo operatorius (ESO) to implement an IT solution for smart meters and their data collection and management.The loan duration fixed in the contract is up to 16 years. No additional measures that would guarantee performance of additional obligations (guarantees, securities, mortgage, etc.) are provided in this contract, informed company.

Within the next few years, the number of electric cars on Latvian roads will increase significantly. Within five years, almost a quarter of people, or 23%, plan on purchasing an electric vehicle, while the leader in electric car use in the Baltics could be Lithuania, where there is the greatest public support, with 92% of the public rating the use of electric cars favourably, according to a survey of residents of the Baltics by Citadele Bank and Norstat.

Data of the Labour Force Survey (LFS) conducted by the Central Statistical Bureau (CSB) show thatin August 2020 actual unemployment rate comprised 8.6 %, which is 0.3 percentage points more than in July. Unemployment rate registered by the State Employment Agency (SEA) accounted for 8.2 %, and, compared to July, it has not changed.

Grains push Klaipeda port cargo volumes up 11% in August

The Lithuanian seaport of Klaipeda handled 30.2 million tons of cargo in January-August, 2020, down of 3.5% year-on-year, the port authority said on Wednesday. In August alone, handling volumes increased by 11%, reports LETA/BNS.

Throughput at Butinge crude terminal fell by 19% in Jan-Aug

Orlen Lietuva's Butinge crude terminal handled 5.152 million tons of oil in January through August 2020, down 19.4% from 6.393 million tons a year ago, reports LETA/BNS.
