In order for banks to be able to employ individual risk-based approach to customers, a number of regulations need to be changed in Latvia, Santa Purgaile, head of the Financial and Capital Market Commission (FCMC), told Latvian Radio, cites LETA.

Due to the spread of Covid-19, new restrictions will be introduced in Daugavpils and Kuldiga until mid-October: no more than 500 people will be allowed to attend indoor events, and no more than eight patrons will be allowed at one table at public catering institutions, the Cabinet of Ministers decided at an extraordinary meeting on Wednesday, LETA informed.

Latvia could consider raising the threshold upon which persons arriving in Latvia from other countries have to self-isolate from 16 Covid-19 cases per 100,000 residents to 25 cases per 100,000 residents, Health Minister Ilze Vinkele (For Development/For) said at the government's meeting on Wednesday, cites LETA/BNS.

Government in Latvia supports application of reduced VAT to fresh fruit, berries and vegetables for another 3 years

The Cabinet of Ministers on Wednesday approved amendments to the Value Added Tax Law, according to which a reduced value added tax rate of 5% will continue to be applied to fresh fruit, berries and vegetables for the next three years, reports LETA.
