Local residents of border towns Valka and Valga will be exempt from the requirement to self-isolate after crossing the Latvian-Estonian border provided that they move within the administrative borders of the two municipalities, the Latvian government decided on September 8th, informs LETA/BNS.

Sharp increase in the number of people leaving work on employer’s initiative in Estonia

According to Statistics Estonia, in the second quarter of 2020, there were 8,088 vacancies in the enterprises, institutions and organisations of Estonia. Compared to the second quarter of 2019, the number decreased by 28%. In the second quarter, 39,540 persons were hired and 50,184 persons left work. Every fourth person left on the employer’s initiative.

Latvia records 0.2% deflation in August

The latest data of the Central Statistical Bureau (CSB) show that in August 2020, compared to August 2019, the average level of consumer prices* decreased by 0.2%. Prices of goods fell by 1.0%, while prices of services rose by 1.6%.
