Mayor of Astana assessed economic relations between Kazakhstan and Lithuania as productive

Adilbek Dzhaksybekov, Mayor of Astana, the capital of Kazakhstan, met with Lithuanian Parliament Speaker Loreta Grauziniene and invited her to visit to Kazakhstan, informs LETA/ELTA.

The Parliament speaker's public advisor on foreign and international matters Ambassador-at-Large Kestutis Kudzmanas said, "We see Kazakhstan as Lithuania's strategic partner in the region. Kazakhstan Railways is planning significant investment in Klaipeda's Seaport. The meeting addressed cooperation in the areas of education, innovation and technologies, as well as parliamentary cooperation. The Parliament speaker was once again invited to pay a visit to Kazakhstan".

 

The mayor of Astana said that economic relations between Kazakhstan and Lithuania are productive and are developing dynamically, especially as far as logistics sector is concerned.

 

Adilbek Dzhaksybekov said that Kazakhstan is implementing a large transport project – it is constructing Western Europe-Western China transport corridor. Kazakhstan is establishing logistics centres near the border with China and is laying rail tracks. It will be one of the shortest roads for freight to Western Europe and Lithuania will become Kazakhstan's partner. Together with Lithuanian colleagues, Kazakhstan Railways is going to build a terminal in Klaipeda, Lithuania's port city. In addition, the mayor reminded that Lithuanian Railways representation office was recently opened in Astana.

 

According to the mayor of Astana, the meeting discussed bilateral cooperation between the capitals of the two countries as well. "Yesterday, during the meeting with the mayor of Vilnius, we planned many concrete measures aimed at developing economic and cultural cooperation between Vilnius and Astana," said the guest.
