Riga municipality in cooperation with the Latvian Investment and Development Agency (LIAA) has developed support activities for Belarus business representatives who wish to move their activities to Latvia, LETA learned from the Riga City Council.

The municipality also plans to ensure informative and practical support to employees of the companies and their families.

"We see Riga as a place chosen by young professionals from Latvia and abroad," said Inese Andersone (New Unity), the candidate for the chair of the Riga City Council city development committee.

Support activities have been developed especially for the Belarusian market. The local government and the Riga Tourism Development Bureau (RTAB) will consult and provide support, for example, in relation to documents, accommodation, finding schools and preschools, and solving other issues.

"Being aware of the advantage and potential of Riga as the investment destination, special attention will be paid to attracting information and technologies (ICT) companies and talents, as well as start-ups," said Rolands Bogdanovs, the head of the investment department of the city development department.

On September 24, the first online event with more than 1,500 interested persons was held to present opportunities to develop business in Latvia.
