In the Entrepreneurship Awards 2020, Nordica’s subsidiary Xfly was named one of the 10 most successful Estonian companies in terms of boosting its exports, BC informed Nordica`s representative.

Over the five years of its operations the airline has steadily increased its sales of services on foreign markets, recording turnover of 85,810,000 euros in 2019, of which 74,528,000 euros was in exports. Percentage-wise, the growth in Xfly’s exports from 2017-2019 was 285%, while growth in added value per employee in the same period was 182%.

Director of Marketing and Communication Toomas Uibo says that Xfly is not only a successful exporter but also an important link in connecting Estonia to the rest of Europe. “We’re truly grateful for the recognition,” he said. “Xfly might not be a trademark that’s aimed at the general public, but we play a vital role in linking Estonia to the rest of the continent with the help of international flight routes. For quite a while now we’ve been a strategic partner to other airlines who sell tickets themselves and take the commercial risk on the market in doing so. Our strength is in being able to offer them a cost-effective flight service using our own aircraft and crew on Tallinn and Scandinavian routes.” Before the corona crisis Xfly was operating five routes from Tallinn for its partner airlines.

Xfly’s biggest partners and clients are SAS Scandinavian Airlines, LOT Polish Airlines, Nordica, TUI, Loganair, airSerbia and many other flight companies and local governments. The Estonian airline, with its fleet of 24 aircraft, was one of the largest companies in Europe to exclusively offer flight services prior to the onset of the crisis.
