Baltic Ground Services, an international provider of ground handling, aircraft fueling, passenger services, part of Avia Solutions Group owned by Lithuanian businessman Gediminas Ziemelis, has acquired its first electric bus, informs LETA/BNS.

It's the first bus of this kind in Lithuania and it will start carrying passengers at Vilnius Airport in September.

Specifically designed for airports, the bus will be delivered to the company by Busnex, owned by AviaAM Leasing representing China's world-largest bus producer Yutong, Avia Solutions Group said. The bus, three-meter wide and 13-meter long, will be capable of carrying 100 people.

BGS now has five diesel-fueled buses at Lithuanian airports and plans to replace them all with electric ones.

BGS announced its plans last year to invest 30 million euros into 80 electric buses and ground servicing equipment at 13 airports across the world over the next three to five years.
