People with hearing disabilities get special emergency app in Lithuania

Lithuania's Interior Ministry on Friday presented a special app of the emergency number 112 for people with hearing disabilities, reports LETA/BNS.
"People with hearing disabilities will be able to use the app to report an emergency and receive assistance," Interior Minister Rita Tamasuniene said.
In her words, the new app will ensure good communication with the Emergency Response Center with a possibility to have video calls 24/7. "Video calls will work the way the emergency response number works – 24/7," the minister said, adding that over 40,000 people with hearing disabilities will be able to use the app.
Moreover, the new app will allow detecting the exact location of a caller.
The previous app, GPIS 112, did non have the video call functions. The new app will be launched on July 1.
