Free movement between Poland, Baltics to be restored next week
"I talked to my counterpart Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki today. There are two important and good news. First, we agreed that free movement between the Baltic states and Poland will be resumed next week. It will be coordinated by the states' responsible ministries as a matter of urgency," the prime minister posted on Facebook.
Under the existing rules, Lithuanian residents are allowed to leave the country but upon return from a country where coronavirus cases exceed 15 per population of 100,000, they will be required to self-isolate for 14 days.
Different rules apply to foreigners arriving in Lithuania. If they come from countries where the number of COVID-19 cases ranged from 15 to 25 per population of 100,000 in the past 14 days, citizens of these countries will be allowed to come to Lithuania but will have to self-isolate for 14-days. If the number of COVID-19 stayed below 15 per population of 100,000 for the past 14 days, citizens of such countries will be able to come to Lithuania without mandatory 14-day isolation.
Foreigners from countries where the number of coronavirus cases exceeds 25 per population of 100,000 are banned from coming to Lithuania.
The lists of countries marching these requirements, are jointly coordinated by the three Baltic states which lifted their movement restrictions earlier. The list will be issued every Monday.
Lithuania's Health Ministry has put 27 countries whose citizens can come to Lithuania on the first list. People coming from 24 of them will not need to self-isolate for two weeks.
The requirement to self-isolate will not apply to those arriving from Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Italy, Denmark, Poland, Romania, France, Finland, Germany, the Czech Republic, Estonia, Austria, Bulgaria, Latvia, Hungary, Norway, Switzerland, Cyprus, Greece, Iceland, Slovakia, Croatia, Slovenia and Lichtenstein.
Self-isolation will be mandatory for those coming from Malta, Ireland and Spain but people can come from these countries.
