Estonia: TalTech announces EUR 15 mln smart city competition

The Smart City Center of Excellence of the Tallinn University of Technology (TalTech) has announced an international competition for finding future solutions for problems experienced by cities; the total volume of the competition is 15 mln euros, and ideas to the competition can be submitted until Nov. 6, reported LETA/BNS.

Digital solutions geared at overcoming cities' transport, energy and construction-related problems as well as at resolving issues in the use of data and improving the governance of cities are particularly welcome at the competition. Each idea submitted to the competition must involve at least two cities, one of which must be located in Estonia, according to TalTech.


The best ideas and teams will be granted financing for carrying out a pilot project within the next few years. The volume per project will be capped at 1.5 mln euros.


The Smart City Center of Excellence was founded by TalTech, Aalto University, Forum Virium, the Estonian Ministry of Economic Affairs and Communications and the Ministry of Education and Research.
