The number of new cars sold in Estonia in July this year, more than 2,000, was smaller by 17.2% than the number of new cars sold in July 2019; however, the market is recovering from the slump caused by the coronavirus pandemic, writes LETA/BNS.

The last time over 2,000 new cars were sold in Estonia per month was in January, and sales figures for July exceeded those for May nearly twofold, according to the Estonian car dealers and service companies association AMTEL.

By segment, medium SUVs continuously made up the best-selling segment with a share of 26.6%. Smaller medium cars were in second place with 24.5%. Hybrid cars sold during the month numbered 261, electric cars 29 and CNG-powered cars 62.

Toyota emerged as the best-selling brand of car in Estonia in July with 395 units sold. Skoda was in second place with 291 units and KIA third with 152 units sold.

Among models, Toyota Corolla topped the list with 152 units, followed by Toyota RAV4 with 146 units and Skoda Octavia with 92 units.
