Dita Zemīte , Statistics Latvia, Riga, 21.05.2020.Print version
Passenger turnover at Riga International Airport in April of 2020 has dropped by 99.5%, as compared to April 2019. Data compiled by the Central Statistical Bureau (CSB) show that also the volume of cargo and post loaded and unloaded* has decreased by 49.4%.

In April, total number of passengers arriving at and departing from Riga International Airport comprised only 3060. Dramatic fall of the passenger turnover in April is explained with cancellation of international flights to limit spread of COVID-19. With the special permission of the Minister of Transport, small number of cargo flights and passenger flights, mainly for repatriation of Latvian residents, was authorized.

In the first four months of this year total number of passengers at Riga International Airport comprised 1.02 million and that is 39.6% less than in the same period of the previous year. 6 689 tonnes of cargo and mail were loaded and unloaded at port, which is a reduction of 22.8%.
