Prime Minister Rõivas noted in his speech that Sweden is the main export partner for Estonia and the largest direct foreign investor, adding that Estonians have great appreciation and respect for Sweden. “For us, your country has always been associated with high quality and innovation,” the Prime Minister said.

According to Rõivas, the global economic situation is not particularly stable and businesses need to find novel ways of producing and selling their products. “The challenge for Estonia is to manufacture products with high added value and to boost productivity,” Rõivas said.

The Prime Minister emphasised that a rapidly developing and dynamic information technology sector is one of Estonia’s clear strengths and invited Swedish entrepreneurs to become e-residents.

“I am pleased to see that many Swedish businesses have noticed Estonia’s potential,” Rõivas said and added that, in addition to familiar Nordic business culture, e-residency would enable entrepreneurs to take advantage of Estonia’s attractive business environment, using its digital services.

Through e-residency, i.e., a digital ID, non-residents and non-nationals of Estonia can apply for a virtual proof of identity, which provides an opportunity for secure online identification and access to a number of public and private e-services.
