Lithuania and China find new fields of cooperation

New steps are made in the strengthening of cooperation between Lithuanian and Chinese businessmen and researchers as during the visit of the deputy chairwoman of Science and Technology Commission of Shanghai Municipality, Zu Xin Xu, a memorandum of initiating the cooperation between Lithuanian and Chinese companies of science and technology parks was signed on Tuesday, reports LETA/ELTA.

In Vilnius, Zu Xin Su and her delegation have also had a meeting with Evaldas Gustas, the economy minister of Lithuania.

 

The parties discussed cooperation possibilities in innovations, scientific research and experimental development, as well as considered the potential of running joint research projects, the economy ministry says.

 

By 30 March, 2014, Chinese (excluding Hong Kong) investors had accumulated LTL 7.72 million (EUR 2.23 million) in Lithuania which accounts for around 0.02% of total foreign direct investment in Lithuania. The volume of China's investment in Lithuania has tripled in a year.

 

Lithuanian investors have also been investing more actively in China as Lithuania's investment in China (excluding Hong Kong) has grown by 34% in the last 12 months.
