Lithuanian health system could take care of e-health servers

BC, Vilnius, 31.07.2020.Print version
The National Health Insurance Fund or another institution of the Lithuanian health care system could take over the responsibility for the e-health servers, Health Minister Aurelijus Veryga said on Friday, writes LETA/BNS.

The minister was commenting on a recent incident where the e-health system went down for more than a week after the Center of Registers' server room was flooded by a burst water pipe.

Veryga, back in office for one day during his holidays, is meeting with Saulius Urbanavicius, the center's director, and Economy and Innovation Minister Rimantas Sinkevicius to discuss the situation.

"If there are physical problems with server storage, we may consider options where such servers could be stored in our system," the health minister said. "We have the National Health Insurance Fund and perhaps e-health could move there."

"We'll talk about all possible alternatives so as to prevent similar incidents in the future," he added.
