China's Didi Chuxing buys minority holding in Estonian app Taxify
Taxify is to launch
cooperation with the world's biggest ride-sharing platform Didi Chuxing. With the partnership, the Chinese company is to
invest in Taxify and support the
company's further growth in Africa and Europe, Taxify said.
"The present stakeholders will maintain their control. It is a
minority holding but with a long-term investment and cooperation," member
of Taxify's board Martin Villig told BNS.
According to Didi Chuxing's
founder and CEO Will Cheng Wei, Taxify offers and innovative and
high-quality mobile service on very different markets. He added that in his
opinion the partnership will help advance cooperation between Asian, European
and African transport networks.
Taxify will continue
making big investments in technology and plans to hire 70 software developers
and product managers to its Estonian office.
Didi Chuxing is an IT platform that mediates transport services to more than 400
million users. In 2016 the company took over Uber's operations in China.
Taxify is a transport
technology company founded in 2013 which develops a global mobile transport
platform.
