Self-isolation mandatory for Latvian travelers arriving from Croatia, lifted for arrivals from UK
10.07.2020Travelers arriving in Latvia from Croatia and San Marino are required to self-isolate for 14 days because of an increased Covid-19 incidence in these countries, whereas arrivals from the UK and Monaco are no longer required to self-isolate, informs LETA, according to the latest data released by the Center for Disease Prevention and Control (CDC).
Freeport of Ventspils reports 40.9% drop in cargo turnover in H1

In May, foreign trade turnover in Latvia fell by 24.1% y-o-y
10.07.2020Provisional data of the Central Statistical Bureau show that in May 2020, due to epidemiological crisis caused by Covid-19, the foreign trade turnover of Latvia amounted to EUR 1.93 billion, which at current prices was 24.1 % less than a year ago, of which the exports value of goods dropped by 16.8 %, but imports value of goods – by 29.6 %. In May Latvia exported goods in the amount of EUR 906.1 billion, but imported – in the amount of EUR 1.03 billion.
Annual HICP inflation in June made 0.9% in Lithuania
In June 2020, according to the harmonised index of consumer prices (HICP), which is methodologically harmonised with those of other EU member states, the calculated: average annual inflation, same as average annual inflation calculated based on the consumer price index (CPI), stood at 1.9 per cent; annual inflation (June 2020, against June 2019) stood at 0.9 per cent, the CPI-based one – 1 per cent in Lithuania.
Covid-19 outbreak: restaurants in Latvia to work shorter hours
In order to contain the spread of the Covid-19 coronavirus and prevent an increase in the number of new Covid-19 cases in Latvia, the government today approved shortening public catering establishments' opening hours, informs LETA.
