Belarus orders two more oil tankers via Lithuania's Klaipeda
Martynas Burba, a spokesman for the company, said Belarusian oil export company BNK had informed the railway company they are awaiting the tankers on March 3-4 and march 13-15.
Orinta Barkauskaite, head of communication at Klaipedos Nafta (Klaipeda Oil), told it’s still unclear where the oil will come from and there's no information on their names.
Alexander Tishchenko, spokesman for Belneftechim, a business group coordinating activity of the Belarusian oil industry, told the Interfax news agency he could not name yet the country the oil would arrive from.
Lietuvos Gelezinkeliai plans to transport 100-150 railcars oil per day from Klaipeda to the Belarusian border. Burba explained that every new oil cargo would need around 10 days to be delivered to Belarus.
The first tanker with Norwegian oil Belarus arrived in Klaipeda in late January. Giedrius Sabaliauskas, director of oil business at Klaipedos Nafta, told LETA/BNS then its terminal could theoretically handled up to 3 mln tons of oil a year.
