BC, Vilnius, 14.01.2020.Print version
Ignitis, an electricity and gas supplier which is part of Lithuania's state-owned energy group Ignitis Grupe (Ignitis Group), has become Finland's largest alternative gas supplier over a course of two weeks.

According to the company, the recently launched gas interconnection with Estonia, Balticconnector, has created possibilities for Finnish consumers, who have long been dependent on the single gas supplier, Gasum, to choose.

"Looking into the flows via Balticconnector during the first weeks of January, we see that Ignitis has become the largest alternative gas supplier in Finland. On certain days, the share of our gas going through the gas pipeline exceeded 40%," Haroldas NausedaIgnitis' board member in charge of B2B clients and expansion, said.

According to Ignitis, the new interconnection is now being used to its full capacity.

Ignitis also told LETA/BNS all gas supplied to Finland now comes from the Incukalns storage facility in Latvia where all LNG acquired last summer is stored.
