airBaltic revises flight schedule on a weekly basis according to CDC recommendations

BC, Riga, 10.08.2020.Print version
Latvia's airBaltic national carrier revises its flight schedule each week based on the recommendations provided by the Center for Disease Prevention and Control (CDC), the airline's representative Alise Briede informed LETA.

She indicated that airBaltic operates its flights in compliance with the orders and recommendations issued by the responsible authorities, prioritizing the health and security of its staff and passengers. Based on the CDC's latest reports on the spread of Covid-19 in various countries, airBaltic revises and adjusts its flight schedule each week.

In case of any changes in its schedule, airBaltic proactively informs passengers, sending information individually about the changes and alternative options. If a passenger has purchased the ticket through a travel agency, its representatives will communicate the information unless the passenger has been identified as the main contact.

In cases where due to a high Covid-19 incidence a flight to a particular destination is cancelled less than 14 days before the scheduled departure, airBaltic offers passengers to reschedule the flight or an alternative route for reaching the destination. Passengers can also choose to fly to a different destination available on the airBaltic list.

In case of a cancellation, passengers can also claim a refund in the form of a gift voucher (plus EUR 20 in each direction) or a money transfer to their bank account.

As reported, airBaltic carried 810,317 passengers in January-June this year, a decrease of 64 percent on the first half of 2018.

airBaltic turned over EUR 503.281 million in 2019, a 23.1 percent increase against 2018, and sustained a EUR 7.729 million loss in contrast to a profit made year before, the company's audited statement shows. The airline forecasts a turnover of less than EUR 200 million this year.
