COVID-19: mouth and nose should be covered in public transport in Latvia
The Cabinet of Minister ordered the Transport Ministry to approve measures that ensure epidemiologically safe use of public transport, stipulating that passengers are required to cover mouth and nose in public transport.
As reported, starting from March 27, passenger transportation companies had to apply measures to reduce the number of passengers in public transport by limiting the number of passengers in one transport vehicles, ensuring safe distance among passengers and others.
This week Transport Minister Talis Linkaits (New Conservative Party) said that the number of passengers in public transport has started to grow.
The Transport Ministry has consulted with the Health Ministry about the necessary steps and the Health Ministry has suggested that passengers should wear hygienic face masks.
"Those are not the special medical masks. They could be decorative that people can sew themselves," the minister said.
