BC, Riga, 02.06.2020.Print version
The State Police on Tuesday released businessman Igors Ivanovs who had been arrested as a suspect in the criminal case on organization of an alleged murder of lawyer Alla Jurasa. Ivanovs' lawyer Janis Davidovics told LETA that restrictive measures unrelated with deprivation of liberty have been imposed on him.
The investigator is not allowed to reveal information about the reasons Ivanovs has been released, but "obviously, he is not a danger to the society". The restrictive measures ensure that the police may reach him.
Reportedly, Ivanovs had sent a message through former Riga Freeport Administrator Leonids Loginovs, warning lawyer Jurasa about threats to her life. He claimed to have received this information from another inmate Vjaceslavs Goncarovs.
Ivanovs was released from jail three years ago after having served a nine-year jail term for ordering murder of his wife Ella Ivanova. Now his is tried for threats to kill his sister and her husband, the Latvian television reminded earlier.
