EUR 600 mln redistributed among Latvian ministries

The Cabinet of Ministers on June 2nd in Latvia decided to redistribute EUR 600 million for different initiatives of ministries, including 103.2 million to be allocated for health care infrastructure projects, informs LETA.

The government revised the Finance Ministry's report on measures to overcome the Covid-19 crisis and recover economy.


The state support to measures for overcoming the Covid-19 crisis and economic recovery has reached EUR 2.1 billion. Of this sum, the government has already earmarked EUR 966.46 million of which EUR 228.67 million have already been granted, for example, for downtime benefits and other support programs. At the same time, ministries will be allocated EU funds worth EUR 496 million.


On Tuesday ministers agreed to redistribute additional EUR 600 million. Of them, EUR 233 million will be earmarked for modernization projects, EUR 152.2 million for different infrastructure projects, including EUR 103.2 million for health care infrastructure projects.


Also, EUR 63.5 million will be earmarked for education and science projects, and EUR 20 million for the tourism sector, EUR 21 million for the culture development plan, EUR 66 million for Latvijas Dzelzcels railway company and other transportation companies.
