Klaipeda came 4th among the ports in the eastern Baltic part in Jan-Oct

The Lithuanian seaport of Klaipeda handled 39.2 million tons of cargo in January through October 2020, a rise of 0.7% year-on-year, informs LETA/BNS.

Riga posted a 27.5% drop to 19.816 million tons. Ventspils saw its cargo volumes plunge by 40.8% to 10.723 million tons, and Liepaja recorded a 10.5% decrease to 5.304 million tons.


Throughput at Lithuania's Butinge oil terminal fell by 17% year-on-year to 6.692 million tons of crude.


The Port of Tallinn's cargo handling data for January-October is not yet available.


Three Russian ports maintained their tonnage lead over all other ports in the eastern part of the Baltic Sea, with cargo volumes down by c.8% to 85.039 million tons in Ust Luga, down by 1.3% to 49.352 million tons in Primorsk and down by 19.4% to 41.792 million tons in Saint Petersburg.


The port of Kaliningrad registered a 5.8% decline to 8.796 million tons for January-July.
