Dace Puce's feature debut The Pit wins Grand Prix at Lubeck film fest

The Pit, the first feature film by Latvian director Dace Puce, has received its world premiere and won the Grand Prix as the best feature film at the Nordische Filmtage Lubeck (Nordic Film Days Lubeck) in Germany, Ligita Mieze, a representative of the film's creative team, told LETA.

Lubeck hosted Nordic Film Days for the 62nd time. For the first time ever, the NDR Film Prize, worth EUR 12,500, went to a film from Latvia. The film festival in Lubeck takes place since 1956 and it is the only festival devoted to North European films, which makes is an important platform for Baltic and Nordic films and filmmakers. 


This year, the film festival was held online. The awards ceremony was recorded in advance without a live audience. The actor Stephan Szasz moderated the evening, with the winners appearing via video links. A show band provided musical accompaniment.


Appearing by video link, director Puce expressed her pleasure that her feature debut emerged as the winner.
