The representation will be headed up by export adviser Daniel Bajer.
The manager of EAS, Peeter Raudsepp, described Poland as an important market for Estonian exporters, where additional support by EAS is definitely necessary.
"We are glad to be able to be of support for Estonian business operators on one more important market still," Raudsepp said, adding that Poland continuously ranks seventh or eighth among Estonia's trading partners and close to one thousand Estonian companies are active on the Polish market to a smaller or bigger degree already.
The main export articles when it comes to Poland are machinery and equipment, accounting for 27 percent of exports, wood and wood products, 13%, and metals and metal products, 10%. The CEO of EAS added that also such areas as cyber security, IT and defense cooperation are seen as possibly having potential when it comes to exports.
Such clients of EAS as Guardtime, Helmes, Timbeter, SK Solutions, Defendec and several others from the same fields of business are active in Poland already.
Poland's interest in the developments of our digital state meanwhile is demonstrated by repeated visits by Poland's minister for digital affairs here, as well as the recent re-establishment of the Estonian-Polish Chamber of Commerce, whose opening in Tallinn was attended also by Poland's President Andrzei Duda.
The prior experience of Daniel Bajer, chosen as the representative of EAS in Poland, includes business consulting, enterprise, and business diplomacy. He has headed up a consultancy and worked as director for foreign investments at the British embassy in Warsaw. "The Polish market is big, highly competitive and is developing rapidly, which is why opportunities can be found here both for the principal products of Estonian businesses as well as niche products of smaller volume," Bajer said.
He said there is room for a significant increase in Estonia's exports to Poland. Bajer said he was looking forward to working with all of EAS and the team of the Estonian embassy and was very happy to be supporting an excellent country that holds the first place both in education in Europe as well as for the number of unicorns per residents globally.
The representation of EAS is located at the Estonian embassy in Warsaw.
EAS has in total 16 export advisers, six investor consultants and two tourism promotion officials active altogether in 17 foreign countries.
