BC, Vilnius, 16.10.2020.Print version
Two new ACMI companies plan to enter Lithuania, including South Africa's Global Airways, the vz.lt business news website reports, cites LETA/BNS.
Lithuania's Transport Competence Agency has launched the certification process for two companies, its spokeswoman Agne Mazeikyte told BNS, without disclosing the companies.
Arturas Stankevicius, a representative of Global Airways in Lithuania, told vz.lt the company decided to expand in Europe via Lithuania after "weighing all arguments". He says the company initially plans to move one Airbus A320 to Lithuania and then expand depending on the circumstances.
Established in 2001 and headquartered in Johannesburg, Global Airways owns seven Airbus A320s and three Airbus A340s. Several years ago, the company planned to build a new center for technical aircraft maintenance but the construction was never launched.
