Kroonpress to start producing packaging in 2021

BC, Tallinn, 15.10.2020.Print version
Estonian printing business Kroonpress is about to start the manufacture of cardboard containers, presumably in the second quarter of 2021, reports LETA/BNS.

In addition to the acquisition of a Koenig & Bauer eight-color hybrid printing press costing about 2.5 million euros, Kroonpress has signed an agreement on the acquisition of a Visioncut 110 LER die-cutter and an Expertfold 110 folder-gluer from the Swiss company Bobst, the company said in a press release.

"An eight-color press is quite exceptional among packaging manufacturers, being able to add expanded color space to the seven colors that have become the trend of late, which with some works means more precise colors," Margus Uurike, who will head the new line of business at Kroonpress, said.

The CEO of Kroonpress, Andres Kull, said that the company has the ability to calculate the size of the carbon footprint of a piece of cardboard packaging already in its design phase. In addition, a hybrid printing press enables the use of inks which do not contain volatile organic components and whose print can be removed more easily when the material is recycled.

Kroonpress AS belongs to investment company UP Invest, which is owned by holding company MM Grupp. MM Grupp is owned by Margus Linnamae and Ivar Vendelin. UP Invest owns also news agency BNS and Postimees.
