Norwegian airline plans to establish a business center in Riga, said international business service center association ABSL Latvia, reported LETA.

The association said that Norwegian plans to employ 600 professionals in three years.

The association's executive director Monta Geidane told LETA that so far there is no official information about the location of the business center, but Norwegian will definitely rent a class A office.

Ahe said that the average pre-tax monthly wage in the sector is EUR 1,657, which means that one job brings more than EUR 10,000 into the state and municipal budget a year. "In this way, Nowegian in case of successful implementation of its plan, establishing 600 jobs, will ensure EUR 6 million contribution to the Latvian budget every year," said Geidane.

The company's vice-president Knut Olav Hoeg said that Latvia's culture and lifestyle features are similar to the Nordic countries. In his words, Riga is an attractive location for international business service centers thanks to its developed infrastructure, geographical location in respect to the Scandinavia and the rest of Europe.

Norwegian low-costs airline was founded in 1993. The group employs more than 11,000 people in Europe, Asia and America. The fleet consists of 170 jets.

Association of Business Service Leaders (ABSL Latvia) is the only international business service center association in the Baltic states. It was established in 2019 by Cabot, Circle K Business Centre, Cognizant, DnB Bank ASA, TietoEVRY and SEB Global Services. Currently the association has 16 active members and cooperation partners.
