DPD Lietuva, a Lithuanian provider of parcel delivery services, plans to invest nearly 3 mln euros in new electric vehicles (EVs) and their charging stations, reported LETA/BNS.

According to Robertas Vilkaitis, CEO of DPD in the Baltic countries, more than 50 new EVs will roll out onto the streets of Vilnius for parcel deliveries next year.

“The replacement of parcel delivery vehicles with electric vehicles in Vilnius will leave us with the greenest fleet not just in the capital but perhaps among all parcel delivery companies in Lithuania,” he said in a press release.

The company told that it would also install approximately 50 EV charging stations in Vilnius.

Overall, DPD plans to invest 6 mln euros in EVs across the Baltic countries. Some 30 EVs will roll out onto the streets of Tallinn in 2021 and about 40 EVs will take to the streets of Riga in 2022.

DPD Group, the leading parcel delivery network in Europe, plans to invest 200 mln euros in environmentally friendly alternatives by 2025. The group intends to deploy 7,000 new alternative delivery vehicles, to build 3,600 charging points and 80 new urban depots.
