Lithuania’s new car market showing signs of recovery
BC, Vilnius, 02.10.2020.Print version
The number of new passenger cars registered in Lithuania in September 2020 rose by 16.7% year-on-year, to 4,900 cars, from almost 4,200 cars in the same period last year, Autotyrimai said on Thursday, citing data from the state car registration company Regitra, cites LETA/BNS.
September was the first month of market recovery after the downturn that lasted between March and August, the market research company pointed out.
“Re-exports remain a key market driver: 765 of the new cars registered in September, including 750 Fiats and 20 Jeeps, were removed from the register by the end of the month and 12 more will be deregistered in the near time,” Autotyrimai said in a press release.
Last month, the top three brands of new personal cars included Fiat (2,500 new cars registered), Jeep (491) and Toyota (431).
Some 30,500 new passenger cars were registered in Lithuania in January through September, down 20.2 percent from 38,300 cars in the same period last year.
