Luminor lends EUR 2 mln for plastic packaging plant in Lithuania

Luminor Bank has loaned 1.9 million euros for the construction of a new plastic packaging plant of Terekas, a Lithuanian company that operates abroad under the FlexBlow brand, in the western district of Kretinga, informs LETA/BNS.

"We are seeking to invest in the state-of-the-art technologies and advanced solutions," Terekas CEO Juozas Maksvytis said in a press release on Tuesday.


"We have just signed an agreement with the Lithuanian Business Support Agency on the development of new prototypes – we intend to replace incandescent lamps in our machines with laser heating," he said.   


The construction of the new facility cost over 5 million euros. The project was co-financed by the EU.


Terekas exports 40%  of its products to the United States and Canada, as well as to Sweden, Denmark, Germany, Portugal, Italy, Kazakhstan, Russia and other countries. 


FlexBlow machines, developed by the Lithuanians, ae used to produce 1 billion plastic bottles worldwide annually.  


The company's plastic blowing technology is the only of its kind in the Baltic countries, according to the press release.
