Solar power plant to be built in Narva Industrial Park for EUR 4 mln

BC, Tallinn, 11.09.2020.Print version
Two solar power plants with a total capacity of just over seven megawatts, which will cover the annual electricity needs of about 3,000 families in the northeastern border town of Narva, will be built in Narva Industrial Park, the news portal of Estonian public broadcaster ERR reported, cites LETA/BNS.

The 15,000-panel park will become one of the largest solar power plants in Estonia, the "Aktuaalne kaamera" evening news program of Estonia's ETV public television reported.

The cost of the project is approximately four million euros and a group of Estonian investors is developing it. According to the builder, the construction of solar power plants is currently in full swing across Estonia, because it is possible to ask for support for them until the end of the year.

"At the moment, there are renewable energy fees collected from people that are paid to park developers over 12 years. This will be valid until the end of the year for these parks, and next year, there will be investment grants or something else that has to be come up with," Andres Ruusmann, CEO of Pro-Solar, said.

"It will probably be possible to build them without subsidies soon as well. After all, it works on light and Estonia is not in a worse position than Germany in this sense. So we will be able to get our energy from here beautifully," he added.
