Eleon signs deal with Chinese company on manufacture of wind turbines

BC, Tallinn, 10.09.2020.Print version
Estonian company Eleon and Chinese industrial group Chinese State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC) this week signed a second agreement on the manufacture of wind turbines, reports LETA/BNS.

Manufacturing operations are to start in the final quarter of next year, Eleon said in a press release on Thursday.

Eleon said that the agreement is a follow-up to the agreement on strategic cooperation and establishment of a joint venture signed between Eleon and CSSC in the spring of this year.

This time, the technical parameters of Eleon's new type of wind turbine were set down, along with the development process and the principles of the manufacture, certification and financing of a test turbine.

The construction of the wind turbine plant indicated in the announcement of a strategic partnership between Eleon and CSSC in June is underway, Eleon said.

The Eleon wind turbines of the new design have a capacity of 5-6 megawatts, a rotor diameter of 156-175 meters, and a tower measuring from 135-175 meters in height. Eleon said that over 1,000 units of the new turbines that will be first produced in the fourth quarter of next year have already been pre-sold on the Chinese market.
