Wizz Air expands its Vilnius base

Hungary's budget airline Wizz Air is expanding its Vilnius base and launching five new routes from Vilnius to UK, German, Sweden and Norwegian cities in October 2020, reports LETA/BNS.

The carrier said on Wednesday that it is adding one new Airbus to the Vilnius base, increasing the fleet to three aircraft. 


The five new routes from Vilnius to Birmingham, Liverpool, Hamburg, Stockholm Skavsta and Trondheim will be launched on October 22-24. 


The airline will operate a total of 24 routes to 14 countries from Vilnius after the five new routes – to Birmingham, Liverpool, Hamburg, Stockholm Skavsta and Trondheim – are launched on October 22-24. 


George Michalopoulos, Chief Commercial Officer at Wizz Air, said: “We are delighted to announce further expansion of our local network by adding the new Airbus A320ceo aircraft in Vilnius base. By introducing five new routes from Vilnius and two from Tallinn, we provide customers with opportunities to explore new cultures and cities. We are confident that Wizz Air’s ultra-low fares and expanded route network will make travel affordable to ever more passengers as well as contribute to the ramp up of local tourism sector. Wizz Air is also launching two new routes from Tallinn – to Trondheim and Oslo Sandefjord Torp in Norway – in late October.
