In June, retail trade in Latvia grew by 4.6% y-o-y
As compared to June 2019, the most notable turnover growth was registered in retail sale of electrical household appliances in specialised stores (of 36.0 %), retail sale of cultural and recreation goods (27.7 %), and retail trade in pharmaceutical and medical goods (16.3 %). The largest turnover drop was registered in retail sale in stalls or markets (of 25.5 %).
Total retail trade turnover at current prices increased by 2.3 % (not taking into account the calendar influence).
Compared to May, in June 2020, the total turnover of retail trade enterprises rose by 4.6 %, according to seasonally adjusted data at constant prices. Turnover of retail trade in food products grew by 3.2 %. Retail trade in non-food products (except for retail sale of automotive fuel) increased by 6.4 %, but turnover of retail sale of automotive fuel – by 3.1 %.
As compared to the previous month, the largest turnover growth was registered in retail sale of clothing, footwear and leather goods (of 44.8 %), retail sale of cultural and recreation goods (18.2 %) and retail sale in stalls or markets (12.4 %), but turnover drop – retail sale via mail order houses or via Internet (6.9 %).
Compared to May, in June 2020 the total retail trade turnover at current prices (not taking into account seasonality) increased by 6.5 %.
