Carsharing company Fiqsy in Latvia buys 100 electric cars

BC, Riga, 07.07.2020.Print version
Carsharing company Fiqsy has borrowed more than EUR 2.4 million through the Development Finance Institution Altum's Green Grants program in order to purchase 100 Renault Zoe electric cars, as Fiqsy head Maris Avotins told a press conference on Tuesday, reports LETA.

The number of Fiqsy cars in Riga will eventually increase to several hundred, and then the company will try to enter other markets.

Fiqsy is not the first Baltic company to offer electric car sharing services, there is a company in Lithuania that already provides such services, said Aavotins.

According to Avotins, Renault Zoe has a range of 300 kilometers, therefore these cars can be used not only in cities, but also on trips around Latvia.

Altum board chairman Reinis Berzins said that the project would save 390 tons of emissions annually, which is a very important investment in environmental protection.

Funding for the Green Grants program is obtained from green bonds issued by Altum in 2017, and Altum was the second state company to do so, Berzins emphasized.

Avotins said that renting a car would cost EUR 0.28 per minute and EUR 41.7 per 24 hours. During the first month, Fiqsy will offer a 50 percent discount to encourage more people to try the new cars.
