Hampton by Hilton hotel receives building permit in Tallinn

BC, Tallinn, 16.06.2020.Print version
Tallinn's city planning department last Friday granted a building permit for the construction of a Hampton by Hilton hotel to replace the former Eha cinema and the current shopping center at 49 Tartu Road, informs LETA/BNS.

The hotel, with 185 rooms, five floors in the main building and six floors in certain areas of the building, will be built on the corner of Tartu Road and Jakobsoni Street on the basis of a project by architect Tonis Tarbe, to replace the current depreciated shopping center with a grocery store, pharmacy and liquor store, Hampton by Hilton said.

"Unfortunately, the coronavirus crisis that began in March and hit the whole world has also affected us. We have therefore adjusted our initial plan, according to which the demolition of the current center and the construction of a new hotel should have begun this summer," Sigitas Daugnoras, representative of the owner of the plot and developer GVP Invest Estonia, said in a press release, adding that all decisions have been postponed at least until October of this year.

The Hampton by Hilton hotel brand has approximately 3,000 hotels in 27 countries. The first Hampton by Hilton hotel in the Baltics will be operated by Apex Alliance Hotel Management, which currently operates six different Hilton and Marriott hotels in Latvia, Lithuania and Romania.
