Covid-19 Estonia: EU residents from low infection countries to be able to enter Estonia without quarantine

BC, Tallinn, 29.05.2020.Print version
Starting from June 1, residents of European Union countries with a low infection rate will be able to come to Estonia without a quarantine requirement, informed LETA/BNS.

The government decided that, from June 1, people can come to Estonia without a quarantine requirement from EU and Schengen countries and the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland if the infection rate of the last 14 days, that is the cumulative number of infected persons per 100,000 inhabitants, is 15 and below there, Prime Minister Juri Ratas said. If the infection rate is higher in these countries, those arriving must be quarantined for 14 days.

For other countries in the world, the general Schengen rules apply.

From Friday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will publish information regarding countries' infection rates on its website.

Foreign Minister Urmas Reinsalu told the news portal of public broadcaster ERR that people who traveled to Estonia from Sweden, Belgium, Portugal, Malta, Luxembourg, Italy, Spain, the Netherlands and Denmark will have to be in quarantine for 14 days upon arrival.
