LDz Cargo made profit from cargo transportation in 2019

LDz Cargo, a subsidiary to the national rail company Latvijas Dzelzcels (LDz), made profit from cargo transportation last year, but international passenger transportation posted losses, according to information published in the government's official gazette Latvijas Vestnesis.

LDz Cargo's profit from cargo transportation in 2019 was EUR 10.955 mln, which is 7.7% more than in 2018, while the company suffered losses from the provision of international passenger transportation in the amount of EUR 8.17 mln, which is by 0.6% less than a year earlier.


At the same time, LDz Cargo's revenue from cargo transportation last year was EUR 245.677 million, which is 8.4% less than in 2018, but revenue from passenger transportation amounted to EUR 7.397 mln, which is 3% more than a year earlier .


Last year, the turnover of LDz Cargo was EUR 253.074 mln, which is 8% less than a year earlier, while the company's profit increased by 42.3 percent and amounted to EUR 2.785 mln.


LDz Cargo provides international passenger transportation on the route Riga-Moscow, Riga-St. Petersburg, Riga-Vilnius-Minsk-Kyiv and Riga-Minsk.
