Estonia gains container shipping link with Europe

The logistics company Containerships, part of the French container transportation and shipping group CMA CGM, has launched a container shipping route linking Estonia directly with the United Kingdom, Benelux countries and France, informed LETA/BNS.

In addition, connections will also become available with Spain, Portugal, Canary Islands, Morocco and Ireland via transshipment at the company's hub in Rotterdam, Andres Uusoja, member of the management board of the container and multifunctional terminal operator HHLA TK Estonia, told.


Uusoja said that the volume of Containerships in Estonia is some 12,000 to 13,000 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEU) per year while the capacity of the ship is close to 960 TEU.


The first call in Tallinn with Containerships took place on the April 8, according to the company.
