First-time registration of passenger cars in Latvia up 0.5% in January

First-time registration of passenger cars rose 0.5% y-o-y in the first month of 2020, as 4,719 cars were registered for the first time in Latvia during that period, according to the information from the Latvian Road Traffic Safety Directorate (CSDD) writes LETA.

The vehicles registered for the first time in Latvia in January this year also include 556 trucks, down 25.8% against the same period a year ago, 43 buses, up 49 %, as well as 173 motorcycles and trikes, up 53.1%.


The list of vehicles registered for the first time in January 2020 also includes 63 scooters, up 61.5%, 16 quadbikes, down 20%, and 447 trailers and semi-trailers which is an increase of 3.2% y-o-y.


The total number of transport vehicles registered in the first month of 2020 is 6,089, which is two fewer than in January 2019. 


In 2019, first-time registration of passenger cars in Latvia rose 1.1% from a year before to 91,006 autos.


CSDD is a state-owned enterprise registering motor vehicles in Latvia, issuing drivers' licenses and conducting road worthiness examinations of vehicles.
