Guntars Catlaks, the head of the VISC, informed about the data of a survey conducted by ministry and Edurio, in which the students admitted that during the distance learning process they did not like that communication with their school takes place on different platforms. Pupils also lacked a single platform on which to work.

The minister explained that the creation of a single platform would eliminate one of the most significant shortcomings, and that the teaching process and communication between students and teachers should take place on one platform. Tasks could also be assigned to this platform.

Suplinska pointed out that in connection with the creation of a unified "virtual classroom", the ministry has met several times with representatives of the IT industry, who offered the Ministry of Education and Science to use several platforms already used by schools in the distance learning process.

According to the politician, this unified platform will be built on the basis of a prototype, but it is not yet known to what extent it will be applicable and financially adaptable to Latvia's opportunities. At the same time, the minister emphasized that there will be a tender and representatives of the industry will have the opportunity to participate in it.

She also revealed that some of the funding currently available to mitigate the effects of Covid-19 could be used to set up the platform.
