President: Lithuania strives to reduce social exclusion
"I would like to assure you
that nothing will be reduced, everything will be paid on time, the state will
indeed deal with challenges. The Government has been instructed to reconcile
the two parallel tasks," the president told the national radio LRT on Thursday.
According to the president,
currently the priority is to reinstate and increase the reduced pensions, also
to increase salaries of the lowest earners in the public sector. Furthermore,
the president strongly supports the Government's plans to increase the minimum
monthly salary.
Grybauskaite says the country is
capable of carrying out all of its commitments and sees as much as four sources
where the money may come from: economic growth exceeding 3%, dividends unpaid
by state-owned companies, money circulating in the underground economy and the
European Union support funds.
