Lithuania's industrialists approve decision to increase minimum salary by EUR 10

BC, Vilnius, 04.09.2014.Print version
Lithuania's industrialists approve the decision to increase the minimum monthly salary by LTL 35 (EUR 10) and say that consistent increase of the minimum salary will not have much influence on industrial costs, reports LETA/ELTA.

The average pay in the industrial sector is LTL 2,500 (EUR 724) and is higher than the country's average.

Vice-president of the Lithuanian Confederation of Industrialists Gediminas Rainys hopes that the Government will also reduce labour taxation, while reforms of the Labour Code will allow both employers and employees to adapt more flexibly to the changes in the labour market.

As reported, the ruling majority agreed to increase the minimum monthly salary by LTL 35 (EUR 10) from 1 October to LTL 1,035 or EUR 300.
