Uspaskikh: monthly minimum wage in Lithuania has to stand at EUR 435 by end-2014

BC, Vilnius, 23.04.2014.Print version
Labour Member of Parliament in Lithuania Viktor Uspaskikh, has stated that by the end of 2014 the monthly minimum wage in Lithuania has to be increased to LTL 1,500 (EUR 435), informs LETA/ELTA.

"The monthly minimum wage should have constituted LTL 1,200 (EUR 348) by this day. It should stand at LTL 1,500 by the end of the year. The Labour Party is pursuing this goal and it would be nice if the coalition partners supported the idea. I think it is supported by everyone except the social democrats. However, I hope they will change their mind. Especially after the prime minister declared that by 10 percent more (revenue – ELTA) was collected to the budget, which means that there is such possibility," Uspaskikh told the media commenting the Government's report.

Uspaskikh assessed the Government's work favourably but he thought more could be done: the monthly minimum wage increased, pensions compensated and expenditure on the Liquefied Natural Gas Terminal cut.
